In His Image household has its roots going back to 1976. The concept of Households began under the guidance of Fr. Michael Scanlan at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. He envisioned small groups of men and women to increase fellowship at a troubled campus and required the students to join them. The school sponsored some households but allowed the students to start their own.

A male household named 'The Rock' started around that time. But in 1978, a group of men (pictured above), wanting to exceed the minimal requirements and grow closer to God, split from 'The Rock' and formed In His Image household.
